The wedding day is here.
The princes are arriving. Will's uniform is red like a Marine's as is Charles. They are both loosing their hair.
I cry at weddings. The queen is in bright yellow arriving to screaming crowds and less for Camilla. Kate has her hair down. It seems like a long ride for her. The sun came out. She doesn't seem to have the queen's tiara. Prosperity and adversity, I wish.
They said their vows flawlessly. Live in harmony with one another. Faithful and committed relationships the more we become, a fuller life. Generous love, making one another a work of art giving each other faith and freedom. The prayer was lovely. HRH duke and duchess of Cambridge.
The kisses were short and sweet. Kate' dress was lovely. I really wish she had the Queen's other tiara on. She needed more heigth and a longer train. I watched from 1:30 am to 5.
Have you noticed how grocery prices are going up and package sizes are shrinking again. I've added to my pantry and am cooking more from scratch, more soups and grains.

The Royal Wedding is almost here
I watched Diana's wedding in 1981 and will watch her son's in Friday, April 29th, 2011. She died so soon and would have wanted to be here for this for sure.
I hope and pray nothing bad happens. May it be a day of joy, and one to divert all the bad and terrorists and thoughts of war and the economy.
Crazily I put in a resume for a librarian position in Barstow. I'd hate it there. not only is it below Bakersfield in the desert, but with the Marine Corps HQ. It would be near the Morning Sun and "Palm Springs" the desert Mohave oasis of hot springs, They gave this cool Thanksgiving celebration I went to with Norm twice. The bury hams and Turkeys in the earth pit and let them roast over night. The next day there are turkey enchiladas. It's a cool gathering of free spirits camping. There are 4 hot springs plus, one in camp, one in ferns, one for dishes w a sink, one for bathing and the upper Palm springs.
Back up in the lemon and orange trees I go to trim lemons out of my orange tree. It was taking over. Some was done with a chain saw. and the rest I am clipping with loppers and a tree saw if I need it.
So far I've picked 5 bags of lemons. 2 I gave to Caro and today David will take some and I think I'll donate some to 2nd Harvest food bank.
I did squeeze some more lemon juice. I had some lemonade, took some to the spa, made a bit more the last 2 days and had some oj for breakfast. Thiae are 2 of my facorite things, Lacy is another. Even when she eats grass and rhrows up.
There was a librarian job in Savannah too for a career college in VA. It would be too hot and humid for me. i enjoyed it when i went through, I took a tram tour. i had been looking at real estate is Beaufort and by that night my feet were so swollen I couldn't even walk on them for the next 24 hrs. I was driving from Beaufort to Hilton Head to St. Simeon's Island for the night.
I made scrambled eggs w mushrooms, garlic and onion last night to use the 2 left over egg yolks from my soufle the night before. I'm trying to maximize the veggies I put into things. I'll walk to the supermarket to get some more veggies, mushrooms, spinach, fish from the corner Lion Asian market. I may do a cheese souffle tonight when David comes by this afternoon.
David and I made a trip to OSH, the local hardware and got a citrus picker.
Then we went to take some lovely wisteria pictures. He made them appear on my computer.
I tried to ride my bike when Janelle was here in 1990 with less than stellar results. I remember the tires needed air and I fell over at the school. My coordination wasn't too good. I should try some one's. PJ says I may need thicker tires and I agree and certainly think a broader seat would be called for. He suggested a 3 wheel bike. I don't think I'm there though.
It's sunny and near 80, time for sun screen a hat and shorts or protective sleeves.

it always cost more and takes longer
I got out on the ladder and picked another bucket of lemons and have more to trim and lug to the front. I do have a wheel barrow. For sure some need to be donated.
I gave my friend Caro 2 or 3 bags full of lemons, one on Easter. She does squeeze them and I used to and put them in ice cube trays then in a zip lock. I am trimming late. The trees are already in beautiful blossom.
Lacy woke me getting sick on the bed then the floor on my medical records . Once that was changed and the mattress turned and 2 loads of laundry in i decided to make Kirk's wheat bread. I finally have the correct recipe in two places. I may actually make it correctly. It came out o.k. though.
2o yrs younger pgm, thru Bob Green diet and exercise. 1700 cal per day.. and skin, think I'll do it too.
The more I water I think I may have discovered the ant colony or the come crawling out.
do u know how to change bike tires?
I also prob do not have the tools either but I have a portable pump. I need it lifted off the hooks in the garage and to use it. Especially since I heard my car has structural damage and the frame brace, reinforcer, bracket and tie bar need replacement. That ups it to over 5000. and adds another week in the shop till 5/6.
I'm reading a few new books one, Mounting Fears by Stewart Woods and another Killer Summer by Ridley Pearson.

Accident
There is another blog also called janesnewsnotes at bbw@gmail.com, sometimes it posts there although there are only two tiny posts.
I need more days in Sonoma.
Had a tiny bump in stop and go traffic in Oakland, The estimate includes replacing the whole bumper?? hood? side? door? paint?
1,800. of my car, I have 25.000, in collision, and 100,000 in bodily injury. The second car was covered by Farmer's and the first a Jeep in claiming an injury. The car is in the repair shop and the tiny parts and repair will take between 4-5 business days.
This is spring break/Easter week so I have it off.
I returned the book Freedom after Sonoma, 2 days late. I read all of 1.5 pgs., of it there. I read Marilyn's Vanity Fair.
Now I'm in Sonoma Mission Inn withdrawal. I want more time there. I have a spa day to use. I want repeated time in the sauna, the steam room without the eucalyptus. Time in the meditation room in front of the fire with water and oranges and grapefruit to snack on, even almonds for protein,
I ended up giving all but my one piece of my Easter strata away. One to Kurt, another to Diana, 3 to feed the gardener's lunch and 2 more as well. I cooked they beet tips as well and oranges for dessert. Just as well, even with the whole wheat bread base, I prefer the majority to be veggie.
Today I am making a cauliflower souffle. With eggs on sale I can use that or spinach or broccoli. It's been a long time since I made one. I'll have some asparagus first. Fresh "grass" as they call it, at the farmer's market was 3. I'm fininhing an old bundle and finally cooking the new one. When I was in New Mexico in the mountains near Los Alamos, someone there in a tiny spa town asked me if I ever had wold asparagus. I hadn't and she leaned over and picked me a spear thinner than a pencil, like several pieces of led. It was delicious and that was in June.
When diving, I once had a raw scallop from the ocean also wonderful.
I borrowed the gardner's car to go to the library. It's about 3 miles away. I was going to walk. I need to work out ay least 2 hrs. a day. U want my bike fixed. I need new tures. I was expecting my one book, Freedom again, but it wasn't there so I got 4 others. One I like a lot is a follow up on Eat This Not That called Cook This Not That. It says to cook spinach, mushrooms, onion with egg and roll in a w wheat tortilla or taco shell w jack cheese and salsa/ pico de gallo for breakfast to avoid fast food. Cool book. I want both of them.
I am also looking for the Dukan Diet. There is also another the 17 day one made w things like oatmeal bars w stuff I'm still looking for, agave, whey powder and this sugar substitute, I got a clone of that. It takes time and effort. Marilyn says the health food has a lot of it. A lot is available on line but with shipping the prices go up.
I want to get some red worms and restart my vermiculture bin and recycle kitchen wastes to compost.
I can't believe how many lemons I'ne pulled off the tree and how much lemon tree still needs to be cut away from the orange one. I'll take more lemons to Caro, but in addition to the huge basket and bowl that I have, may take some to 2nd Harvest food pantry. They are selling is the store for 49 a lb. and at the farmers market 4 for 1.00.
There is a petition/measure on the ballot to ban circumcisions?! Hope it does not pass.I know for some it is a religious issue, some cosmetic and some a matter if cost. Some are saying it is genital mutilation. I don't see it that way. I prefer it. They say it should be up the the penis owner at 18, not the parent. They say it is horribly painful. I wouldn't know.

Good Thursday/Good Friday
The pics of semana santa in Spain are so interesting with everyone fressed in purple. When I traveled in Feb. people told me that Easter week, Pascue would not be a good time. Indeed this next week school is closed. Alot of Mexican families go home to Mexico at that time.
I remember 1968 Good Friday. Amazing how vivid it all still is 43 yrs. later.

A WEEK AT THE SPA
The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn a lovely place. It is larger than I thought.I especially like the fires. One in the morning with breakfast in the room and one or 2 in the evening. There are hikes, tennis, bicycle tours and you can schedule personalized ones. It's a quiet town as is Calistoga and Napa especially during the week. When Joe and I lived in Vallejo I would sub. in Napa.
On the first night Marilyn hacked all night long. She thinks her house has mold and or mildew and is toxic. She seemed to improve after spending time in the spa and aromatherapy eucalypyus. I liked the hot and hotter tubs best and the sauna. There was also a relaxation/meditation room there the fire was going and the had water plain, my preference, or minted and lemoned. I liked the cut oranges and grapefruit. Then there was almonds and dried fruit, mango, papaya and whatever. Outside there were bananas and apples.
I remember just reading an apple a day keeps u healthier because the pectin does something. This is recent in addition to the old adage "an apple a day keeps the Dr. away."
There were also 2 outdoor pools and classes, from yoga to Pilate's to water aerobics, and exercise equipments from free weights, treadmills, nice robes and isotonic scuffs. I had a lavender massage and a facial followed by a pedicure.
Last night we went to dinner at Saunte, there. $12 dollar drinks, we had a 30. glass of wine, complimentary fortunately. Marilyn had to lie down and the manager told her she couldn't, so after she walked back to get her Dr. note he brought her extra pillows and cleared the area as people left. The first night we made french onion soup for $10. soda, not that I drink it was $5. We cleared out the mini fridge and loaded it with milk we brought to go with the cereal. I also brought Kashi cereal, strawberries and bananas. Marilyn brought cheese and crackers and I had salsa from the farmers market and Trader Joe's stone ground corn tortilla chips. For out drive up I made turkey and avocado sandwiches with olive oil mayo. There was a wine tasting for an hr each night. There was a wine tasting tour that rolled in and it got loud and I left.
We looped the plaza in Sonoma as we left I remember the cheese factory and General Vallejo's adobe. She is embarrassed to stop because someone may be her lying down and it is illegal. She had someone drive her down from Trinidad to get a house for her and her daughter in law and grandson. Unfortunately, her "son" Jesse has not on his meds. since Dec.
I kept nodding off and was making my way thru Oakland and off the freeway 660/17 in stop and go traffic and I fell asleep and woke when I tapped the man in front of me and he hit the woman in front of him. We too pics. and exchanged info and were on our way. Damn.
After I got home I crashed for 3 and 1/2 hrs. I got up, unpacked and heated up some of my split pea soup. Mmm, sure is good. It's my favorite so far.

May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are. Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us."
the chocolate of Meyer lemon souffles were 25 dollars think I'll make one here for Kirk and me for Easter. Maybe this lemon Ricotta one.
Giant Lemon Ricotta Souffle Cake
Makes 6 extra-large pancakes
5 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon salt
5 ounces sugar, plus more for the strawberries
2 teaspoons baking soda
1½ tablespoons baking powder
5 eggs, separated
5 cups milk
3 ounces melted butter
5 cups fresh ricotta cheese
Zest from 5 organic lemons, preferably Meyer
Olive oil for pan
Fresh strawberries
1. Mix the dry ingredients together.
2. Mix the milk and egg yolks, then mix the wet and dry ingredients, stirring by hand until incorporated. Mix in the butter. Fold in the ricotta cheese and lemon zest, and allow to rest for 30 minutes.
3. Whip the egg whites to medium stiffness, then delicately fold into the batter.
4. Place a seasoned 10-inch cast iron pan over medium heat. Coat with olive oil and ladle 6-8 ounces of batter into the pan; do not shake the pan or the cake will fall. Turn the heat down to medium low, and allow to cook until the cake is cooked 2/3 of the way. Flip and let the other side brown. Prick with a cake tester; serve when the tester comes out clean. Serve with maple syrup and fresh berries, lightly macerated with sugar.
